Ok. Your house is now prepped and protected. We are ready to move onto the fun part. The next step in our Popcorn Removal Process series involves removal and then repair of your drywall ceilings. We begin by attaching our custom misting tip to a regular garden hose. Then we pull to the furthest point from our entry and begin systematically wetting your popcorn. If your ceilings have been painted and the popcorn is still able to be removed, a few dry scrapes will be necessary before the misting process begins. After the water has been absorbed, we start to carefully scrape your popcorn from the ceiling. Our goal is to leave nothing but bare drywall, joint mud and nothing else. If there is any trace of popcorn dust the texture may not adhere properly. Our team also pays special attention to the seam tape where your ceilings meet the walls. This tape can take a beating and rather than texture your edges heavy to hide it, wet again take the extra time needed on the front end to ensure a beautiful result at the end.

After we’ve removed all of your popcorn from the ceiling, it’s time for minor touch up’s and repairs. The drywall can get dinged up sometimes, especially when the popcorn has been painted. We go room by room and edge by edge looking for any imperfections to fix. Sometimes we discover old repairs or water damage and sometimes we see that we can improve on the work that was initially done. We want to shoot as light a texture as possible and this part of the process is what allows us to do that.
